FAQ's (frequently asked questions)

Why do you do this kind of business for elderly and disabled?

When Jackie Kim was studying at the California Union Seminary in 1990, she wanted to operate a nursing home for evangelical reasons and started a home-based nursing home in Everett , Washington . The majority of elderly in skilled nursing homes are not happy and crowded. There are great needs for good long term care facilities.

Don H. Kim joined later because he wanted to establish one of a kind of “home”. He was a Board member of the Japanese community nursing home, Seattle Keiro, and also he was interested in a home for his mother who stayed in his ‘home’ for three and half years.

What are the differences between a skilled nursing facility (SNF) and an Adult Family Home?

SNF are large institution where medical doctors, nurses, and other health care providers are on their payroll. In terms of the ratio for residents per caregivers is too high, and caregivers cannot deliver personalized and individualized care services. In AFH the setting is residential, and we can have up to six (6) residents. A variety of outside health care providers make home visits services regularly and our residents hardly need to make outside doctors appointment.

What are the special features of Living Life Care Home?

Our mission is to provide the highest and sustainable care in the long term care industry. We admit pre-screened residents. We have steady employees with high goal in mind. We do a team approach in caring residents with strong commitment with family members and home-visit  health care service agencies. Unlike a small residential setting, all record keeping is done by a networked computer system. All our rooms are private with a lavatory/sink, private telephone line, and high speed internet access. We also have wheelchair lift van, nurse call and wireless security system. We are a member of the Better Business Bureau, Pierce County Health Care Providers Council, and Washington State Residential Care Council.

How can I place my parent in Living Life Care Home?

It is required to have a Comprehensive Assessment done by a neutral party who analyzes the resident health condition and proposes a care plan. It costs about $300.00 to be paid by the family. Unless there is certain reason, we prefer to have an Assessment done by Mrs. Wendy Mitchell, RN, at Cell (253) 381-9113, Home (253) 862-8120 or Mrs. Chris Burge, RN, at Cell (253) 208-9921, Home (253) 536-0206. It takes about 1-2 Hrs. interview and 3-7 days to receive a report.

How much do you charge for the services?

Our starting rate is $2,995 and we offer 24/7 monitoring. The majority of our residents came from SNF.

What are visiting hours?

You can visit at any time. However, we discourage a visit during meal time.

What types of residents do you have?

We accept only private pay clients. The residents should respect the rights of other people and  have confidence on our caregivers.
